Thoughts from the CEO:

I read this Fader interview with top, progressive music managers talking about what success is in 2015. It got me wondering what 2015 will have in store for Music Tech and what needs to happen for this year to be considered a "successful" one? For years, music has been laughed at by other industries and taken less seriously. Technology has given way for companies and capabilities to emerge in this scene and move the baton FWD. We are able to consume and share music in constantly evolving ways.

In 2015, we live in a place where some of the most influential people on social media are musicians. The most backed projects on Kickstarter are music based. The driving force in nightlife is no longer about bottle service or the venue but who the DJ is. VC's are investing in music start-ups more than ever before.  We've witnessed the supply and demand chains, we've seen the trends in 2014 first-hand. This year, I believe success can be found if record labels moved their licensing efforts beyond TV, film and streaming. Imagine the potential of a market where music licensing deals were made with retail stories (online and off) and mobile gaming companies. Now we're on trend - and talking a new source of revenue!

Music Tech will continue innovating and we will continue shining a light on the new exciting companies driving the culture forward.
