Twitter Unveils IPO, Twitter #Music Flops
Last week, Twitter's unveiled its $1 billion IPO. While many hoped that Twitter #Music would help shape music discovery as much as Twitter has shaped social media... the rather impressive IPO comes in spite of, rather than because of, its foray into music recommendation. After just a few months, the pretty app has fallen far down the charts. But the failure in #Music may help Twitter when it comes to tackling #TV. Meanwhile, Google's Play Music All Access (yes, we still cannot believe that's its real name) is releasing an iOS app, jumping in to compete with iTunes Radio. Of course, Google already owns arguably the biggest music discovery platform in the world, Youtube. Why did they choose not to build their music streaming service directly out of that beast? Keep up on all of this, plus more music tech news, below.
