INFLUENCING EMERGING MUSIC TECH CULTURE

AUGUST 24, 2015
This past weekend, I was at the first ever Billboard Hot 100 Festival. Following the rising trend of #BandsAndBrands, Sour Patch Kids’ sponsored and brought "The Patch" to the festival. It was incredible to see the manifestation of the houses we have - on a yacht! We had artists come by learn about the program and of course, enjoy some sour patch.
This week, streaming companies announced services for brands to explore additional ways to generate revenue and bring more value to artists & consumers.
Google Music paired up with brands like ASOS (fashion) and Munchery , to "take online radio offline.”
Rdio's “Promoted Music Experiences” will offer brands native advertising on their platform.
Bandpage and Rhapsody teamed up to provide listeners with tour dates, VIP experiences and private shows.
The music landscape will keep becoming more and more competitive. But in the end, this back and forth is great for us, the fans. The people who enjoy music and the novel experiences that can live on our Instagram feeds forever. Can’t wait for next year’s festival season, when we might start seeing some more drones. Will Dronies be the next selfies? ha.
Enjoy the rest of the summer, and I’ll be back in Sept!
